Opera
Learn about the history of Opera with iMindsJNR audio learning series for younger minds.
Powerful women in Viking helmets, heroic males with incredible voices, and epic themes of life and death –this is opera!
Opera is an art form that tells a story through singing, music, dancing and acting. It began in 1597 when an Italian artist, Jacopo Peri, tried to reproduce the ancient Greek dramas. After noticing that the Greeks used music and speech together in these dramas, Peri chose to do the same but with signing. He created the first opera, called “Dafne.” Soon after Dafne’s release, opera became a popular form of entertainment across Europe.

The human body is a collection of 100 trillion tiny cells. These are the body’s building blocks. Each cell has the same basic structure: an outer skin, a nucleus, and a jelly-like fluid containing floating organelles. There are many different types of cells: fat cells, blood cells, brain cells and more!

William Shakespeare
Learn about the life and times of William Shakespeare with iMindsJNR audio learning series for younger minds.
William Shakespeare is one of the most famous writers of all time. But little is known about the life of this playwright and poet.
What we do know is that Shakespeare was born in 1564 in a town in the west of England called Stratford-Upon-Avon. His father, John Shakespeare, was a glove-maker who was also on the local council. His mother, Mary Arden, was the daughter of a wealthy farmer. Shakespeare went to school in Stratford and historians believe he studied at King’s New School there.

Colonialism
Learn about the history of Colonialism with iMindsJNR audio learning series for younger minds.
Around 500 years ago, European nations began to explore the world around them more than ever before. With safer and faster ships, Europeans were able to sail across the globe, over oceans that had once been unnavigable. As they undertook these great voyages of discovery they encountered cultures very different to their own. In many cases, Europeans established settlements in the lands of these other cultures and came to dominate them. The term “colonialism” was invented to describe this overtaking of one culture by another.

Mountain Ranges
Learn about the world's greatest Mountain Ranges with iMindsJNR audio learning series for younger minds.
A mountain is defined as any hill that reaches 600 metres or more. Mountains come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some have sharp, pointed edges; others slope more gently. The terrain of a mountain is made up of peaks, valleys, escarpments and plateaus. And the collective name for a group of mountains is a mountain range.
Two of the most famous mountain ranges in the world are America’s Sierra Nevada and Africa’s Atlas mountains. But there are bigger mountain ranges. In some places, there are whole chains of them. These are given the name cordillera.Perfect to engage, entertain and broaden young thinkers.. iMindsJNR brings knowledge to your MP3 with 5 minute information segments for growing minds.

Jury System
Learn about the development of the Jury System with iMindsJNR audio learning series for younger minds.
When someone accused of a crime goes to court, a decision is made on whether or not to punish them. This is done by either a judge or a jury. A judge has a job in law. But a jury is a group of everyday people who work together to decide if a suspect is innocent or guilty. Whether or not a jury is used depends on the matter being heard. In general, courts draw on juries when the matter is particularly serious. But to understand when and why a jury is used, it helps to know more about justice systems.
