-
Drum Lesson 63 - Funk Studies 3
In this drum lesson we are playing more complex funk grooves. Adding more ghost notes, applying rudiments and playing demi semi quavers on the bass drum.

http://www.dansdrumlessons.com -
Drum Lesson 65 - Sub-Divisions - Double Strokes
In this drum lesson we are looking at sub-divisions - dividing each beat into between one and eight notes. Playing double strokes as our rudiment on the snare drum and playing the hi hat on the quarter note with the foot.
With this rudiment we need to make sure, when playing odd sub-divisions of three, five and seven, our hi hat falls on the second note of each double stroke on beats 2+4.

Drum Lesson 66 - Sub-Divisions- Single Paradiddles
In this drum lesson we are playing a single paradiddle through eight sub-divisions. Being able to divide the beat will help solidify every drummers internal body clock.
The odd sub-divisions can be quite difficult to begin with so we need to practice these at a fairly slow tempo.
http://www.dansdrumlessons.com -
Drum Lesson 67 - Sub-Divisions - Hands & Feet
In this drum lesson we are taking a look at adding the feet into the sub-divisions. We are still keeping the hi hat on the quarter note and alternating our sub-divisions between hands and feet - between snare drum and bass drum.
The hi hat will fall in unison with the same sound source with the even sub-divisions and for all the odd sub-divisions the hi hat unison will alternate between snare drum and bass drum.

Drum Lesson 68 - Sub-Divisions Hands/Feet Ride Cym
In this drum lesson we are playing singe stroke sub-divisions between hands and feet while always keeping an eighth note ride cymbal pattern and a quarter note hi hat ostinato.
In some of these exercises we are creating various polyrhythms between different parts of the drum kit.
http://www.dansdrumlessons.com -
Drum Lesson 69 - Mixed Sub-Divisions - Fill Ideas
In this drum lesson we are mixing up our sub-divisions. Playing two bar phrases and keeping the hi hat on the quarter note. We are playing a drum groove followed by a drum fill with each beat having a different amount of even notes.
Playing the drum fills on the snare drum and then orchestrating the fills around the drum kit - when we change sub-division the notes will either speed up or slow down but will be even in each beat.
http://www.dansdrumlessons.com -

In this drum lesson we are looking at groupings of three played through sixteenth notes. Playing a drum groove and then a drum fill - always keeping the hi hat on the quarter note and after playing between snare drum and bass drum we need to improvise around the drum kit.
Playing groups of three notes through sixteenth notes means we will play the notes five times which will equal fifteen sixteenth notes - so all we have to do is add one more note at the end to complete the bar - each phrase would resolve after three beats or three bars.
http://www.dansdrumlessons.com -
Drum Lesson 81 - Groupings Of Three 2
In this drum lesson we are playing two bar phrases, a drum groove followed by a drum fill, always keeping the hi hat on the quarter note, in each drum fill we are playing groups of three through sixteenth notes.

Drum Lesson 83 - 16th Unison Exercise 3 - Doubles
In this drum lesson we are playing a sixteenth note unison exercise. Playing double strokes as our rudiment on the snare drum and always keeping the hi hat on the quarter note. We are changing the bass drum in each exercise to play in unison with the snare drum on a single sixteenth note or on two sixteenth notes.
