In this chapter you begin to put these techniques together to play your first song, “You Are My Sunshine.” You are taught the steps used to dissect a song and how you find the melody notes needed to cross pick a melody. You are then shown how to take the melody notes and put them in a cross pick pattern and cross pick a song utilizing pivots and bass runs. Lastly, you will explore playing “You Are My Sunshine” in both the Carter pick and cross pick style playing the exact same melody in both styes.
